The short answer
There is no universal winner. Airalo publishes the widest regional country count of these four. Nomad offered the lowest 10 GB fixed-data price in our snapshot. Holafly is the clearest fit when you want unlimited data for an exact number of days. Saily combines fixed and unlimited plans with automatic destination activation, unlimited hotspot sharing and built-in security features. Your itinerary can overturn every one of those shortcuts.
Europe eSIM price and feature snapshot
Fixed-data plans are the cleanest comparison because the allowance and validity are visible. Holafly's Europe product is built around unlimited data by trip length, so forcing it into the same table would hide the real difference.
| Provider | Countries listed | 1 GB | 5 GB | 10 GB | Activation note |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Saily | 35 | $4.99 / 7 days | $19.49 / 30 days | $35.99 / 30 days | First supported network; 30-day activation window |
| Airalo Eurolink | 42 | $5 / 7 days | $19.50 / 30 days | $31 / 30 days | Package-specific; most start on a supported network |
| Nomad | 35 on the displayed plan | $5.50 / 7 days | $17.50 / 30 days | $23 / 30 days | Destination network; activate within 60 days |
At 1 GB, the difference between these three was only 51 cents. At 10 GB, the gap was much larger. That is why “plans start from” prices are weak evidence: compare the exact allowance and duration you expect to buy.
| Provider | Example price | High-speed rule | Hotspot note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Saily | $49.99 / 15 days | 5 GB per day, then data at up to 1 Mbps | Official Europe page says unlimited sharing |
| Airalo | $35 / 10 days | Default policy: 3 GB per day, then 1 Mbps; package may differ | Unlimited policy says no tethering cap for personal use |
| Nomad | $34 / 10 days | Check the selected package's current fair-use details | Hotspot supported; stability can depend on device and network |
| Holafly | $36.50 / 10 days | No fixed total cap; local fair-use management can reduce speed | Europe page lists 1 GB of sharing per day |
Best Europe eSIM by trip type
Best for the broadest published regional list: Airalo
Airalo's Eurolink page listed 42 countries, compared with 35 on Saily's Europe page, 35 on the displayed Nomad plan and 33 on Holafly's Europe page. That makes Airalo the first place to check for a route that extends beyond the most common Western and Central European stops. It does not guarantee that your exact country or preferred local network is included.
Best fixed-data value in this snapshot: Nomad
Nomad showed 5 GB for $17.50 and 10 GB for $23, below the equivalent displayed Saily and Airalo prices. This is a price-snapshot conclusion, not a network-performance verdict. Nomad also notes that plan and network availability can vary, and overseas territories may not be included.
Best for an exact number of unlimited days: Holafly
Holafly lets travelers choose the trip length rather than forcing a fixed 10- or 15-day block. Its official page showed $27.50 for seven days, $36.50 for ten days and $73.90 for 30 days. The tradeoff is that Europe hotspot sharing is listed at 1 GB per day, and unlimited service can still be affected by fair-use network management.
Best fit for Saily's feature bundle: Saily
Saily is worth shortlisting when its 35-country list matches your route and you want automatic destination activation, in-app top-ups, unlimited hotspot sharing and the provider's built-in ad-blocking, web-protection and virtual-location features. Those are documented product features; we have not independently measured connection speed, support quality or the data savings claimed by the provider.
Country count is not route coverage
“Europe” is a marketing label, not a standard coverage boundary. The United Kingdom, Switzerland, Turkey, the Balkans, microstates and overseas territories are exactly where assumptions fail. Open the complete country list for the specific package—not just the provider's general destination list—and match it line by line to your itinerary.
- List every country where you need mobile data, including layovers.
- Check the package country list and its named networks.
- Confirm whether islands and overseas territories are included.
- Take a dated screenshot of the plan details before checkout.
“Unlimited” still has a high-speed rule
Unlimited usually means the connection does not stop at a fixed total allowance. It does not necessarily mean unlimited full-speed data. Saily's displayed 15-day plan included 5 GB per day without a speed limit, followed by service at up to 1 Mbps. Airalo's default unlimited policy uses 3 GB per 24-hour period before reducing speed to 1 Mbps, unless the package states a different threshold.
Holafly says its unlimited products have no fixed data cap, while local operators may reduce speed under fair-use rules. Nomad offered unlimited Europe durations on its current page, but the visible regional page did not provide enough fair-use detail for us to summarize a threshold. Check the selected package before purchase.
Hotspot, calls and phone numbers
Saily's Europe page says hotspot sharing is unlimited. Airalo's unlimited-data policy permits personal hotspot use without a tethering cap. Nomad says its eSIMs support hotspot, while warning that device and network conditions can affect stability. Holafly's Europe page lists 1 GB of data sharing per day.
Do not assume a Europe eSIM includes a local number. Saily and Holafly describe their Europe products as data-only. Nomad says some eSIMs may include a number and tells buyers to check the individual plan. If ordinary calls, SMS or bank verification messages are essential, verify the exact package and protect your home SIM from accidental data roaming.

The final purchase decision
Every country and transit stop on your itinerary appears in the plan list
Your exact phone model supports eSIM and is carrier-unlocked
The validity period covers the whole trip
The activation deadline fits your purchase date
The high-speed allowance—not only the word unlimited—fits your use
Hotspot, calls and SMS work the way you need
The checkout total and refund terms still match this dated snapshot
For a one-country trip, compare the provider's local plan with the regional plan as well. A regional eSIM buys route flexibility; it is not automatically cheaper. For a multi-country trip, paying a little more for the plan that actually covers every stop is usually more useful than optimizing a headline cost per gigabyte.
